Oh hey! We’re back! After a quick hiatus for the holidays, some merging, website building and launching, oh and a lot of other stuff. We break down a whole host of stuff in this episode, from bald eagles in City Park to cornerstones of public land protection this episode more than makes up for the recent podcast drought.
THANK YOU to all of our amazing Colorado Gives Day donors! We hit our target of 500 Donors and raised $50,000! Thanks to everyone who gave, we’ll be providing agreed upon shout outs starting in this episode! If you missed Colorado Gives Day, we’re extending the offer to put words in our mouth…. for money. If you give before the end of December we’ll say whatever you want! We can be bought! Also, Patrick’s beard may be on the table. This episode has extra awesome because we had to record it twice! #Professionals
Whew! Things have been kinda busy… hence we’re a week late with this episode. It was even recorded last week so we really have no excuse for not getting this out to you all. Other than it’s just been really busy. Sorry about that everyone! This week the great Ben Gregory joins us in the studio-closet to talk about endorsing pro-conservation candidates, electoral work, fun fun fun stuff. Oh and Becky was pretty late for this episode so there’s that.
Anyhow, we want to remind you all that you’re probably listening to this on, Tuesday, December 4th and it is Colorado Gives Day! Please support us! In exchange Becky has offered to say whatever you want on the podcast. So open your hearts and open your wallets, we’ll keep opening our mouths.
It’s Thanksgiving week, we hope you’re all headed off to spend time with family, friends, and loved ones. We’re pretty excited to have some turkey and pumpkin pie, and we’re really excited that it’s a short week. How excited you ask? So excited that we’re doing a short episode!
We’re catching up on a few things though including the need for comments on the current rules around oil and gas drilling, the Denver Post for saying “No, Thanks” to oil shale, and for great state leaders who are standing up for our communities. But most of all we’re thankful for listeners like you! Help support the podcast and our organization by donating for Colorado Gives Day! If you give $30 Becky will say whatever you want on the podcast (take it easy with the profanity, etc.)! Why would you not take her up on this offer?! Just email us what you want us to say or include a note on the donation page.
Have a great holiday everyone!
Hey! We all survived the election! Caitlin Schneider from Just Vote! Colorado Election Protection joins us this week to break down how efforts to make sure that all Coloradans had access to the polls went on the big day! Patrick and Becky both volunteered with Just Vote! on Election day so we have some good stories and lots of laughs in the studio-closet this week! Listen for yourself and let us know which member of the Just Vote! team was better on the podcast, Caitlin or Rob? Tweet us your thoughts so that we can ensure coworker insecurities and infighting!
Speaking of Twitter… are you following Conservation Colorado on Twitter? This podcast is now a Conservation Colorado product, so you’ll have to check @ConservationCO for the deets AND go like our new Facebook page! Do it.
We’re back for Part II of our chat with Elise. We continue our conversation with questions from staff some poignant, some silly, and a few that are just practical.
Don’t forget to vote tomorrow! If you need help finding out where to drop off your ballot or locating a polling place be sure to visit www.justvotecolorado.com
This week we are excited to be joined by Elise Jones! After 13 years at the helm of CEC Elise will be leaving us next month. We are sad to see her go but very excited for her new adventure as the soon-to-probably-be-elected County Commissioner in Boulder County! We spent a little time with Elise chatting about the good ole days and how she came to work on conservation issues in CO. We think you’re really going to like it, so much so that it’s a two-parter! The second part will drop next week so stay tuned!
Hooray! We’re just 15 days away from the 2012 General Election! Not only does that mean our airways will soon be returned to commercials for cars and soft drinks, it also means the most important day in political system is upon us! This week we’re hitting the studio-closet with Rob Du(!)Ray of Just Vote! Colorado Election Protection.
We talk access to voting, how to find information about voting, and how to help protect everyone’s opportunity to vote! The gang over at Just Vote! need a whole team of ”voting heroes” check out their website to sign up to volunteer! Today, is the start of early voting in Colorado so find out where you can vote or register for a mail ballot until October 30th!
The fabulous Toni Panetta from NARAL Pro-Choice, INC. joined us in the studio-closet for a great chat about the environment and our reproductive health. She even came armed with research! Once again, our guests are more prepared than the hosts, and we like it. To help out and volunteer around the upcoming debates you can email NARAL organizers at email@example.com and get involved!
We know our schedule has been a bit erratic the last few week but it’s because we’ve been really busy building a super cool new campaign. Since we love our podcast listener’s oh-so-much we made sure that you’ll be among the first to hear about it. Check out this great episode with Faith Winter from Colorado Conservation Voters. Go check out the website and sign the pledge to push Colorado into a clean energy future!
